Traditional

Here is the starting point of all doom metal. All doom metal started in the 1990s, this is how all the inspiration started. This includes a a slower tempo with heavy distortion sound. You will find a lot of clean vocals, some high pitched screaming. Traditional bands include Reverend Bizarre, Ogre and Witchcraft.

Doom Metal - Epic

Traditional and Epic Metal is extremely comparable in style. The main difference between the two is the style of singing. There is cleaner singing in Epic metal. Candlemass, Doomsword, Solitude Aeturnus and Solstice are some examples of bands in this sub genre.

Stoner

This is also known as Psychedelic Metal. For the reason that they incorporate psychedelic components to their music. Loading high on bass and guitar effects, this style is a bit diverse from typical doom metal. Their music usually includes guitar effects like fuzz, phaser and flanger. Stoner bands were the first artists to use guitar pedals and effects.

Sludge Doom Metal

This sub genre is know to possess heavy distortion and slow tempos. You'll find more growling and snarls in this sub genre. This is the most common alternation in this sub category. Black Doom Metal
